This intensive course in gem identification stresses the use and application of gem-testing instruments to separate natural, treated, synthetic, assembled, and imitation tones. This is a practical course designed to teach students gemology for useful application in the gem trade.

Lectures will focus on useful techniques of identification and spearatino of over 35 varities of stones including the background theory necessary for the nderstanding of gem properties and their use in identification. Students have unrestricted access to the student laboratory for testing of over 800 practice stones.

Hands-on three day course in which you will learn to produce professional quality photos of gemstones and jewelry. Qualified instructors will walk you through techniques used to accurately display gemstone photos in pring and on the web. Instruction progress from theory to equipment to actually taking shots of crystals, carvings, diamonds, cats eye, star and jewelry. This is a "must have" course and certificate for anyone expecting to sucecessfully sell gems and jewelry by catalog or internet.

This course gives an introduction to international diamond grading techniques and pricing. The course takes a comprehensive look at diamonds, from sources of diamond formation and composition to physical and optical properties. A major portion of the course involves practice grading of over 100 diamonds of varying grades and sizes.

You will learn how to judge 4 "c"s: color, clarity, cut, and carat as well as estimate diamond value using current international pricing lists.

Understanding Basic Gemology is a hands-on sequence of three short courses, each meeting three hours daily, Monday through Friday, for four weeks. This program will give you a complete overview of basic gemology so you can effectively discuss gems and jewelry with prospective customers.

The AIGS Countertop Sketching Course is designed for beginners who are interested in learning about Jewelry Design, but who have little or no background in drawing or design.

It gives the student a basic knowledge of the jewelry design process and fundamental skills in drawing and rendering.

The AIGS Colored Stone Grading System is the result of more than 10 years of research and development. It is used as the basis to teach students how to grade and analyze color, clarity, and cut of colored stones.

Lectures cover color, natural and artificial light, cut, and how they affects brilliance, windows, and extinction. Pricing and market structure discussions supplement extensive practice in the grading of colored stones. Over 500 colored stones are availalbe for grading practice alone.
